The World Nuclear University – School of Uranium Production (WNU SUP) international training center operated by the DIAMO, state enterprise under the auspices of the World Nuclear University in London and in collaboration with OECD/NEA and IAEA, provided 3 courses in 2022.
Courses are mainly focused on the range of aspects of uranium production, be it deposit surveys and extraction using various means, treatment of uranium ores, environmental protection and protection of the health of workers, and even removal of the consequences of mining operations.
Project DYNOSORT in Příbram represents the new approach to the removal of the consequences of mining operations so DIAMO’s project team presented the project during those 2 courses. The first project presentation was given during the course in June when most of the attendants were from South America and the second project presentation was given during the course in November to participants mainly from Africa. This new conception of using sensor-based sorting for purpose of sorting material of the waste-rock piles as a secondary source of minerals was very appreciated by all attendees.
